Daniel was the only sculptor selected to serve on this
important committee. This committee will have a great influence on the
design of all new American coins. As many of you know, there is a
major problem with the new state series quarters not working in
vending machines.
In our gallery pages you will see recent works by Daniel
Altshuler. A bust of Ralph Waldo Emerson completes three of the four
notable Concord authors (Thoreau, Emerson, Alcott and Hawthorne).
A bust Nathaniel Hawthorne will be finished in 2005, then we
will have busts of the (4) four notable Concord authors at the
Montague Gallery.
In 2000 he finished four bronze busts of Louisa May Alcott,
one is now in the White House, a gift to Mrs. Bush from Orchard
House in Concord when she visited last year.
A bust of Helen Keller is now completed.
